Animals
& gardens
Different animals coexist within our ecosystem. Angus cows play an important role in sustainable viticulture techniques, as they provide manure that is used to improve the vineyard´s soils.
We also love horses! Foals and mares help us maintain the hills and prairies free of grass, controlling the amount of weeds and helping prevent summer wildfires.
Sheep, in addition of being cute, are active participants in removing weeds from the vineyard. They also contribute nutrients and organic matter.
Geese are the protagonists at the Los Olivos dam. They live there and interact with ducks and wild birds native to the place.
Gardens surround the cellar, roads, dams and Casa Mirador. Lavender, Beeblosom, Fountaingrass, Lilies and Roses among other flowers grow and thrive around the estate.
Cork Oaks welcome guests at the main entrance, with Crepe-myrtle, Maples, Olives, Maytenus and Cherry blossoms painting a beautiful landscape. A small plantation of Walnuts gives us a limited production of them, which are tenderly hand harvested, and are available at our Wineshop.
We love and take care of bees as they are a fundamental part of our ecosystem. Besides being great pollinators, they give us natural honey that is available at several preparations in our restaurant as well as our store.
